Made in Europe II - Liz Hewitt

Liz Hewitt
United Kingdom
Where there's a mine

Detail
Liz walks the Cornish coastline with Steve Knightley's song  'Cousin Jack' echoing in her head – "This land is barren and broken, scarred like the face of the moon", which commemorates the impact that the Tin mining industry had upon Cornwall and its people.  She has documented the effects on this landscape of tin mining using the marks found within the ruined buildings, rusting machinery and lodes.  The cloth has been stained with rust collected as she walked through the landscape, creating a map of moments in time.
