Vertical Lines made from reflecting fabric provide a different outlook onto 'silver linings on the horizon'. Hand stitching with silver and red thread adds detail which catches the viewers attention.

Wide Horizons V - Yemima Lavan, Child's Burden

CHILD'S BURDEN
She stood by the side and looked at us, a group of tourists.
Suddenly girls her age came by, wearing school uniforms, laughing and skipping gaily. She stood there and watched, She can't join them, because she is carrying her sister on her back.

Hand dyed, shibori, screen printed, fused, free motion on a domestic sewing machine.

The movement of people in the city – scatting, lingering, pottering, with each other or without noticing the others - this fascinates me.

Own technique with inserted cords, layering different kinds of application, free motion machine and hand quilted/embroidered



Silk partly self painted or dyed, different cords, polyester batting and cotton backing, sil and cotton threads

My quilt tell the story about the place where I live. Its agricultural area, fruit, flowers and fields. A variety of colors and smell.

This is a companion piece to Still 4 (Flow). The Storm / Still series is an exploration of the influence of place on my mental state. Storm 2 (Dark): on the worst of days. Despairing, desolate thoughts. Lost.
Pieced with fused applique, layered and machine quilted.


Artists own printed and dyed fabrics. Madeira Cotona threads.
